Deployment Notes
Does it ship with MeshCore installed?
Yes. The relay ships with MeshCore installed so you can focus on placement, power, and configuration.
Is the hardware relevant to Meshtastic users?
Yes. The RAK4631 platform is familiar across adjacent mesh ecosystems, making it useful for comparison shopping even though this product ships configured for MeshCore.
Why use a single 6.8 Ah / 6800 mAh 26650 battery?
A single-cell design avoids the balancing issues that can develop in multi-cell packs, where weaker cells can reach overvoltage or undervoltage limits early. That helps preserve usable runtime, reduce pack stress, and simplify maintenance.
How should the relay be suspended in the field?
Use a UV-resistant Dacron line or another non-conductive line intended for long-term outdoor exposure. For the primary hanging point, a fisherman’s loop knot is a practical choice because it creates a compact fixed loop that holds securely under tension.
If you need additional stability in wind, tie the line around a leg of the dipole so the line helps secure both the top and bottom of the assembly. A non-conductive support line positioned this way should not materially affect reception in normal use, while helping keep the relay oriented and reducing movement over time.
Why is the product positioned as an outdoor relay?
The enclosure, top-mount form factor, fixed antenna, and four-panel 6V 200 mA solar charging setup are optimized for fixed outdoor coverage rather than handheld use.
